Photo1Schneider Electric / APC - Industrial Control Panel UPS
APC offers an industrial control panel UPS that ensures continuity of process control and availability in the event of a utility power failure. The new UPS can be mounted as an industrial panel or via DIN rail. The device provides easy maintenance with user replaceable batteries in a hot swap mode. Temperature compensated battery charging prolongs the battery life by regulating the charge voltage according to battery temperature. Periodic battery self-test ensures early detection of a battery that needs to be replaced.

Photo1Schneider Electric Phaseo Power Supplies
All Universal range Phaseo power supplies have protection devices to help ensure optimum performance of the automation system. Unlike other power supplies, their operating mode can be configured as required by the user:

* Manual reset protection mode: Priority is given to the voltage so as to guarantee the PLC logic states and nominal operation of the supplied actuators.

* Automatic reset protection mode: Priority is given to the current to allow troubleshooting for example, or to help ensure continuity of service until the arrival of the maintenance team.

“Muting and Light Curtains: Four Common Machine Safeguarding
Flaws and How to Avoid Them”

In nearly any industry that manufactures a product, there are automatic feeder systems and conveyor applications that can be optimized simply by using muting. When used with a safety light curtain, muting enables the safety function to be temporarily disabled for a limited time to let parts or products in while protecting workers from potentially hazardous situations.

In the following article from SICK Intelligence Sensors, learn how to avoid potential safety flaws when safeguarding highly automated machines.
